On March 19, 2025, PILMA hosted its first Minnesota event at the Pipefitters Local 455 apprenticeship training center to showcase the Minnesota Pipe Trades Association’s apprenticeship contest. The competition served as a testament to the rigorous training and professionalism required in the skilled trades, reinforcing the importance of apprenticeship programs in developing a strong and capable workforce.
Attendees toured state-of-the-art facilities and observed demonstrations highlighting the critical skills being developed by future pipefitters, plumbers, and steamfitters. Following the competition, labor and industry representatives held an informal lunch and discussion centered on workforce development, evolving industry needs, and collaborative advocacy opportunities.
